Go to a local mechanic or auto parts store for a free diagnostics scan.
You may want to call them first to ensure they can read codes of hybrid vehicles as most but not all stores have this ability. The check engine light must be on for codes to be read (If the check engine light is not on check oil level, tire pressure, fluid levels, gas).
Take a picture of all shown codes.
- Examples of status: Current, Confirmed, Pending, Stored, History, Permanent
- If a scanner does not list status, we will need another scan
- If the OBD scanner says “1/8”, we will need all (8) screens even if it is the same code listed multiple times
- Do not clear/reset codes before scanning the vehicle
- This will cause the status of the codes to become invalid for a warranty claim to be approved - A full tech stream report will be required if a diagnostic is received from the dealership.
- Subcodes will be required for P0AA6 errors.
